

Samsons Group contemplates that it’s our social responsibility to protect the environment. So, to combat climate change and to sustain our environment from pollution, Samsons group has taken few steps in its office regarding environment;

Samson group has planted 5,200 trees at Muzafargarh Road as trees ensures the sustainability to nurture our planet and remove particulate matters and other toxic gases from the air we all take breathe. Mr. Waseem ur Rehman, (CEO, Samsons Group) is too much concern about environment and consider that its everyone accountability to show care for environment and he initiated the plantation project. This project is mainly headed by Mr. Khalil (Admin Manager, Samsons Group) and Mr. Hashim, Mr. Danish (Horticulturist) and other team members. Plantation mainly includes fruit trees like Orange (2000 trees), Moringa (1200 trees), Guava(400 trees), Falsa (1600 trees). Fruit trees has many positive impacts on the environment as it reduces shipping, reduces CO2 emissions, reduce energy cost, manages storm water and provides green jobs.
Ms Asifa Alam (Environmentalist, Samsons Group) on the behalf of Samsons Group has participated in 16th Annual Environmental Excellence Award by National Forum of Environment & Health in the Tree plantation category. NFEH is affiliated with the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and it activities are being supported by the Ministry of Climate Change, Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Coastal Development – Govt of Sindh, EPA Sindh, and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).
Samsons group fulfill the criteria of Tree plantation award and got congratulations letter from NFEH. Award ceremony was held on 9th July, 2019 at Marriot Karachi. Chief Secretary, Syed Mumtaz Shah was invited as a Chief Guest and gave awards to the honorable winners. Before giving the award, organizers of NEFH gave a presentation and described the process of evaluation for awards. For award, nominations was received by NFEH along with the applicable documents and was placed before a panel of judges consisting environment experts from various reputed organizations. Decision of the panel of judges was considered final for presentation of the award. Further, the AEEA’s representative visited the site to testify the information provided by the Award Nominee. Several applications of companies/industries was rejected for Award as any activity against the environment was committed, convicted, penalized by tribunal or court or EPA. Further application/entry was evaluated on the basis of performances and track records of three preceding years.
Several industries like Fatima Fertilizer, DG cement, Bestway Cement, Qarshi etc. achieved award in Environmental Excellence category and four companies i.e., Samsons Group of Companies Pvt Limited, Engro fertilizer, Selani welfare international trust, Aroma Pvt. Limited achieved Tree Plantation Award.
Mr. Hammad Jamil (COO, Samsons group) and Ms. Asifa Alam (Environmentalist, Samsons Group) attended the ceremony and received the award from honorable Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Mumtaz Shah.
